Rockwell Norris is a composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from upstate New York. Currently, Norris is a senior in SUNY Oneonta’s Music Industry program, partaking in and performing with the university’s Digital Music & Beat Production ensemble. Norris is pursuing a full-time career in film scoring, as well as releasing his own electronic music.
Norris was brought up in the dense wilderness of upstate New York, where he found many free hours to develop his voice as a composer and musician.Norris has a musical background in classical piano, music theory, and rock/funk drumming. He is well versed in audio production, with a deep understanding of the DAWs FL Studio and Ableton Live, as well as holding a Pro Tools 101 & 110 certification. He is also a graduate of Herkimer Community College’s Music Industry program. While at Herkimer, Norris met the artist DROS3, whose debut EP, DIVERSE, he later contributed production to. After graduating from HCCC, he transferred to SUNY Oneonta, where he quickly involved himself with the university’s Digital Music & Beat Production Ensemble.
Currently, Norris is preparing to release an EP of his electronic music, which can be described as a mix of jazz-fusion, post-dubstep, and hip-hop. On top of his personal projects, Norris is also writing and producing the scores for an upcoming film; Skyward, dir. Keith Nelson, which is slated for release in an upcoming year.
